Why Chiropractic?

WHY CONSIDER CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT?

Chiropractic treatment can provide relief
from the most common types of pain:

  • Back Pain:family walking on the beach
The cause is often a pinched nerve in the back because of improper lifting or lack of movement. Dr. Tieperman can help find the cause of your back pain and use gentle adjustments to release the pinched nerve.
  • Headaches:
Can be caused by many things, including poor posture, a pinched nerve or even what you eat. Dr. Tieperman’s thorough evaluation considers where and when your headaches occur. Then, if appropriate, he can select the right treatment to relieve your headaches and help prevent them from returning.
  • Neck Pain:
Muscle tightness is often the culprit with neck pain. These tight muscles can compress the nerves and cause pain. Dr. Tieperman will use adjustments, massage and a variety of therapeutic methods to release the tension and relieve the pain.
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
Surgery isn’t always the answer to this debilitating repetitive stress disorder. Dr. Tieperman can help prevent scar tissue from building up around and compressing the median nerve (which causes the pain carpal tunnel syndroe sufferers report).
  • Extremity Pain:
Numbness, tingling and pain in the hands, elbows, and shoulders is often a sign of pinched nerves, arthritis or a variety of conditions. Dr. Tieperman can help relieve your pain with soothing therapies and gentle adjustments.

At Tieperman Chiropractic, we approach your pain with a gentle touch. This is because we know that when you hurt, you want reassurance that the doctor will do everything possible to relieve the pain.  Our director and chiropractor, Robert Tieperman, DC, uses several light-force adjustments techniques to gently relieve pain. The result is a patient who is more relaxed, comfortable and confident in our care – and one who gets out of pain more quickly.

Our doctors specialize in the treatment of severe pain caused by automobile accidents, personal injuries, Workers’ Compensation injuries and sports-related injuries. These injuries are often very traumatic to the body and require gentle intervention to keep them from becoming worse.

When the neck is suddenly “whipped” backward and then forward, as experienced in auto accidents, whiplash can result. Symptoms may occur anywhere from minutes to days, weeks or even months after the accident. As a certified whiplash specialist, Dr. Tieperman will perform a detailed examination of the cervical spine, shoulders and arms to locate signs of whiplash-related injury. He will also ask you about your symptoms, which may include:

  • Tightness around the head and neck and a dull headache
  • Pain and stiffness in the neck and head
  • Pain that moves to the shoulders and arms
  • Headaches, often severe and disabling, that may persist for months after the injury
  • Dizziness and tiredness

Dr. Tieperman knows that no amount of painkillers, muscle relaxers, sedatives or physical therapy can realign the vertebrae and relieve the nervous system and skeletal system from pressure. He can provide the spinal adjustment necessary to realign the spinal column safely and easily. This helps return proper motion and position of the spinal bones. If caught early enough, inflammation can be reduced, and scar tissue can often be minimized.

Personal and work-related injuries often go undetected, because they don’t involve fractures, bleeding or other outward symptoms. However, they usually involve soft-tissue injuries.

Soft-tissue injuries result when the body is traumatized – muscles and ligaments are stretched, torn and bruised, such as what happens with improper lifting, slip-and-fall accidents and carpal tunnel syndrome. They may cause headaches, restricted movement and pain, and can result in scar-tissue buildup in the muscles, ligaments and joints. Dr. Tieperman can keep scar tissue from building up with gentle adjustments, ultrasound and other comforting therapies. And once you have recovered, Dr. Tieperman will shwo you ways to prevent reinjury.

Dr. Tieperman will keep thorough records throughout your treatment, and his proven diagnostic abilities can help make the difference in your injury case and your recovery.

Every year, more than 750,000 Americans report injuries sustained during recreational sports. If you have pain when you move a particular way or if you continue the activity that caused the injury it is important to seek treatment before further injury occurs.

Dr. Tieperman can help create a program of recovery for many kinds of tendon and muscle injuries:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Torn tendons and ligaments
  • Pulled muscles
  • Groin injuries
  • Knee and ankle injuries
  • Pulled hamstrings

Your sports-injury recovery program may consist of gentle adjustments, massage, ultrasound and electric muscle stimulation. Together, these modalities and treatments will help prevent scar-tissue build-up and encourage blood flow to the injured tissue. Dr. Tieperman will then show you how to prevent reinjury with a customized warm-up and stretching plan.
